The difference between DL 2 software keys from DL 3 is in having the following functions:
- license detach;
- license rehost onto another computer;
- protected DL storage.
After the software key update to DL 3, the protected application may not work. This happens because of the API version or the Guardant Protection Studio version used to bind the key may be lower than 3.0.0.0.
Therefore, it is necessary to check these versions before starting the software keys update. If the versions are lower, be sure to update them and perform all the necessary actions to bind the keys. Only after that the software keys can be updated to DL 3.
To update the software keys to DL 3 follow the steps:
- Download the latest version of Guardant SLK.
- Protect the application using the new version of Guardant Protection Studio or the new API.
- Provide the user with the new license wizard and the protected application.
If possible, install the new version of the application on the user's computer and reactivate the existing key on it.
- If this is not possible, then provide user with information about the necessary actions
